Roma Downey brings her charismatic presence, delightful Irish brogue and approachable sensuality to her Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated, starring role on CBS' number one-rated drama, "Touched By an Angel", now in it's eighth season. During her summer hiatus, Downey completed the CBS telepic, "The Sons of Mistletoe" serving as both star and Executive Producer.

Additionally, Downey has released a children's book LOVE IS A FAMILY, published by Harper Collins/Regan Books.

Born and raised in Derry City, Northern Ireland, at the encouragement of her father, Downey pursued her love for painting and attended Brighton Art College where she earned a Bachelor's degree. Inspired by a quote from Vincent Van Gogh "it is no longer enough to be the painter, I want to be in the paint", she enrolled in the London Drama School. While there she starred in many of the classics-Most Promising Student of the Year award upon graduation.

Arriving in America, Downey toured with the Abbey Theatre production of The Playboy of Western World, for which she received a Helen Hayes Best Actress Award nomination in 1991. Her other theatrical credits include the Broadway production of The Circle opposite Rex Harrison, and OFF-Broadway productions as Love's Labours Lost, Tamara and Arms and Man.

Downey is also well known for her remarkable portrayal of the late Jackie Kennedy in the award winning mini-series "A Woman Named Jackie". After auditioning for, and landing, the title role, Downey only had three weeks left to 'lose her accent' through diligent work with a dialect coach while she read voraciously to educate herself on one of the worlds most famous women.

Downey has starred in and served as the Executive Producer on the CBS telepics "Second Honeymoon","The Test of Love","Monday After the Miracle", and "Borrowed Hearts". Her additional television credits include the CBS telepic " A Child is Missing", the Lifetime Original Move, and "Getting up and Going Home", her feature film credits include THE LAST WORD and DEVLIN.

Additionally, Downey is proud to have released her debut recording effort, entitled "Healing Angel", a spoken word and Celtic music celebration in 1999 on the RCA/Victor label.

Downey resides in Salt Lake City, where "Touched by and Angel" films with her young daughter Reilly Marie.
